Old Marx Toy Soldier Playset

I went to help my Dad clean out his basement over the weekend and, in the
process of cleaning, we found an old
Marx Toy soldier playset
he had gotten from Christmas when he was a kid back
in the 1950’s. It was so cool to see the kind of toys they played with back
then. This playset was a medieval castle complete with a moat and there were
plastic knights and horses that went with it. He also had parts of other sets he
had owned as a kid mixed in with this playset. There were some cowboys and
Indians and some Civil War plastic toy soldiers as well. He said that he had
lost most of the other sets or they were parts of sets that were owned by
friends of his that got left at his house.

We did some checking online for prices on the playsets and some of them go
for a nice chunk of change. Unfortunately, my Dad and his friends played with
their toys pretty roughly. While the castle part is OK, except for a crack in
the moat, some of the toy knights are missing heads and arms and are in
otherwise poor condition. I guess there goes my ideas of eBay riches from
selling them. He had some other vintage toys as well that I’m going to have to
investigate too. He doesn’t throw anything away and that sometimes makes Mom
mad. That’s why we had to clean up the basement some this weekend. I just wish
his vintage toy soldier collection had been in better shape.
